The Mary E. Groff Fellowship in Clinical Research Methods
The Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (CCEB) is pleased to announce a fellowship opportunity in clinical research training available to those enrolled in the CCEB's Clinical Research Certificate Program. Qualified applicants must be residents or fellows based at a UPHS-affiliated hospital, including HUP, CHOP, VAMC, Presbyterian Medical Center, and Pennsylvania Hospital. Applicants should be planning careers in academic medicine that include collaborative clinical research. All UPHS-affiliated residents and fellows who desire Certificate-level training are encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to applicants who have not received fellowships previously, however, as one of the goals of the fellowship is to encourage residents and fellows to enter the Certificate Program.
This fellowship is not available to those enrolled in formal clinical research training degree-granting programs designed for those interested in careers as independent clinical investigators (such as the Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology and Master of Science in Translational Research degree programs).
Fellowships are available annually. Applications now are being accepted for fall 2009 courses. Information about the application process is available on our website here. Fellowships cover enrollment fees and also provide a $100 book/educational materials fund per course.
Applicants are asked to submit a personal statement that includes an academic plan, career goals, and a CV. Applicants also must ask the appropriate clinical fellowship director for a letter of support. The application deadline for fall 2009 fellowships is Friday, September 11, 2009.
Applications will be reviewed on a competitive basis, as only a limited number of fellowships are available. In general, it is anticipated that fellowships will cover one course per recipient.
