CCEB/DBE faculty provide direction and leadership for Module I and Module III courses taught to medical students.- Epidemiology and Biostatistics
This is a Module 1, first semester course that provides an introduction to epidemiology and biostatistics for first year medical students. The focus is on basic concepts that support critical appraisal of medical literature. The course includes lectures and small group workshops and is taught by a large number of CCEB/DBE faculty. Joshua Metlay, MD, PhD directs this course. - Clinical Decision Making
This is a Module 3 course that runs in the spring semester of the first year. The course builds on the basic introduction course and emphasizes skills in medical literature searching and evaluation and the application of this information to complex medical decisions first year, and has integrated sessions with each of the Module 2 blocks. The course includes lectures and small groups and is co-directed by Craig Umscheid, MD, MSCE, and James Guevara, MD, MPH.
