Research Statement

Dr. Susmita Pati is a pediatrician and health services researcher who examines the impact of health policy on access to care for underserved children and families. Funded by the National Institute for Child Health and Human Development, she is the principal investigator of the The Health Insurance Improvement Project (HIP), a three year longitudinal observational study of 750 Medicaid-eligible mothers and their infants designed to determine the impact of maternal, child, and policy factors on Medicaid enrollment and retention. She also conducts projects examining immigrant health, racial/ethnic disparities, and health care financing.
