Battling Painful Side Effects from Breast Cancer Treatment
NOVEMBER 5, 2009Jun Mao, MD, MSCE, Assistant Professor of Family Medicine and Community Health, and Angela DeMichele, MD, MSCE, Associate Professor of Medicine and Epidemiology, and Senior Scholar, Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, are featured in a Penn Current story highlighting their research on how to identify and treat breast cancer patients at risk of painful, joint-related side effects during treatment with aromatase inhibitors. The researchers aim to uncover potential underlying mechanisms that may cause some women to be more prone to these debilitating side effects, which often lead women to stop taking their medicines too soon.
