Center Structure and Membership

The CGACT is housed within the Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (CCEB). The CGACT structure and membership is outlined here. The key members and their responsibilities in the center are:

  1. Center Director (CD): Dr. Timothy R. Rebbeck. The role of the CD provides overall leadership and direction of the center, including faculty recruitment and coordination of ongoing CGACT activities. In addition, Dr. Rebbeck coordinates seminar series, visiting speakers, and educational programs.
  2. Statistical Genetics and Genomics Program Leader (SGGPL): Dr. Hongzhe Li (Lee). In addition to conducting investigator-initiated and collaborative research, Dr. Li is a senior faculty member whose primary role is to provide mentorship and research guidance to the statistical genetics and genomics faculty. Dr. Li also coordinates the needs of educational programs related to statistical genetics and genomics. Therefore, Dr. Li is primarily responsible for fulfilling the methods development and educational missions for statistical genetics and genomics of the CGACT.
  3. Molecular Epidemiology Program Leader (MEPL): Dr. Timothy Rebbeck. In addition to conducting investigator-initiated and collaborative research, the MEPL will be a senior faculty member whose primary role is to provide mentorship and research guidance to the molecular epidemiology faculty. Dr. Rebbeck also coordinates the needs of educational programs related to molecular epidemiology. Therefore, Dr. Rebbeck is primarily responsible for fulfilling the methods development and educational missions for molecular epidemiology of the CGACT.
  4. Core Faculty: Core faculty conduct investigator-initiated methodological and applied research, and contribute to the educational mission of the CGACT by teaching in relevant courses. Core faculty can have their primary appointments in the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology or in another department. These individuals include both molecular epidemiologists and statistical geneticists.
  5. Affiliated Faculty: A number of other individuals who either have epidemiological or biostatistical expertise or are undertaking applied research involving molecular epidemiological or statistical genetics research are included as affiliated faculty. Affiliated faculty come from across the University of Pennsylvania and represent numerous academic disciplines and research areas.
