The PGAS was launched in September 2002. Data collection began in October 2003 and concluded in April 2006. Each day, the study tracked all shootings in the City of Philadelphia. A timeline for the period October 2003 to October 2005 is shown below. The timeline indicates the total number of people shot in Philadelphia each week, including all ages and all types of shootings.
