Dr. Wadden is an established researcher in the field of obesity treatment and directs the University of Pennsylvania Weight and Eating Disorders Program. He has conducted numerous randomized obesity treatment trials, many of which have included physical activity components and the use of pedometers or accelerometers to assess adherence. One of Dr. Wadden's relevant published studies demonstrates that lifestyle physical activity is a viable alternative to structured exercise as part of a weight management program. Another of his published studies describes the results of a family-based obesity treatment program with black adolescent girls and their mothers. Dr. Wadden's experience with obesity treatment makes him a valuable investigator for the SHARE Study.
