What to Expect

Turnaround/timeline

The BAC always strives to meet its deadlines; however, it generally takes weeks to months to conduct most analyses. This is due to the meticulous attention necessary to clean and format the data and then perform an appropriate and complete analysis. The most effective approach to this phase of any study is a methodical and careful analysis with checks on data and results. Therefore, involvement of BAC in the design through the implementation and into the analysis phase of any study can greatly reduce the time needed to complete analysis.

Working Effectively with BAC Staff

Some suggestions to facilitate communication between faculty investigators, biostatisticians and BAC staff with the goal of maintaining an efficient and collegial relationship.

Fees and budgeting process

Short-term collaborative consulting and assistance with data analysis through the BAC requires funding for the statistical consultant on an hourly basis. Rates differ for work carried out by staff biostatisticians and SAS programmers.

SAS Programmers $50.00 per hour
Biostatisticians $75.00 per hour

Budgeting for fixed-percent effort or task-based budgeting for longer-term projects (link to "Grant-, foundation- and industry-funded projects") must be arranged through the BAC in collaboration with either the BAC budget manager or managing director. The budgeting process can be initiated by a request via the Collaboration Request Form .

We understand that the BAC may not be able to meet all needs and that our availability depends on our total workload. For these reasons we provide links to other biostatistical consulting services.
