Biostatistics Analysis Center Support for Short Term Consultations
Overview
The Biostatistics Analysis Center (BAC) can provide statistical consulting services on a short term, per hour basis. Short term consultations are best when investigators have well defined questions with relatively small datasets; charges are made per hour, based on the numbers of hours spent on the project.
Situations for which a short term statistical consult may be the best option for structuring BAC support include:
- Design and analysis strategies for research proposals involving observational, experimental and survey research studies;
- Selecting and implementing appropriate statistical methods for specific applications to research data;
- Statistical and graphical analysis of data; and
- Statistical review of manuscripts.
Getting Started
If you have not yet initiated a request for BAC assistance, please complete the BECC Collaboration Request Form. The BECC Triage Manager will contact you within 3 business days to arrange a time to discuss your requirements in more detail. She will be able to offer a rough estimate of the time required to complete the analysis upon reviewing the data and understanding the analyses. There is no charge for your initial meeting with the BECC Triage Manager.
Upon agreement of the scope of work to be provided, the BECC/BAC Managing Director will assign a staff biostatistician and/or programmer to work directly with you. Upon project completion, or more frequently if you prefer, the BAC will invoice you for the hours worked. BAC short term consulting rates are $75 per hour for biostatistician support and $50 per hour for statistical programmer support.
We encourage you to review our tips for working effectively with the BAC before or during your first meeting with the BAC staff member(s) assigned to work with you.
