Unfunded Analyses - Application for Pilot Funds
Some service is available for qualifying faculty and fellows who have no access to financial resources to support the initial consultation and limited analyses. Funds provided by the School of Medicine through the CCEB are available for hands-on assistance with data analysis estimated to take 10 hours or less. After the initial one-hour consultation, a determination is made of the amount of work involved in the requested analyses and must be approved by the BAC faculty director. Larger projects are possible, but only with the approval of the CCEB director.
Requests for unfunded analyses are made by completing the Collaboration Request Form, checking off the appropriate box on the form and stating the reason for your request of SOM funds. If you have questions, please feel free to discuss those issues when you are contacted about your collaboration request or contact us directly.
Note htat most hands-on data analysis is provided through funding built into grants or paid for by home departments; however, the CCEB has developed this from SOM funding to encourage all eligible members of the SOM community to make use of these resources. Examples of typical projects that are approved include:
- Analysis of pilot data for a grant submission
- Simple analyses of data for a meeting abstract
- Analyses necessary to estimate the sample size for a research project
These analyses assume that the data is available in an electronic format and has been checked for mistakes and inappropriate data entry by the investigator (cleaned data set).
