Certification Requirements & Process

✔ Complete Two PE Cases – Each case must include at least eight sessions of PE therapy with expert consultation.

✔ Pre-PE Consultation Calls – Discuss PTSD symptoms, determine client suitability, and prepare for treatment sessions.

✔ Video & Audio Recording – All PE sessions must be video recorded for review and audio recorded for client use (with signed consent).

✔ One-on-One Expert Consultation – Sessions are reviewed via Zoom/phone consultation, offering detailed feedback, troubleshooting, and strategic guidance before each new session.

Certification is available exclusively to licensed therapists or those under the supervision of a licensed professional who have completed a CTSA-sponsored 4-day Intensive PE Workshop. If you've completed a CTSA-sponsored PE workshop elsewhere, submit your certificate of completion to sandraca@pennmedicine.upenn.edu to enroll.

*Therapists under supervision of another licensed professional must continue to receive direct supervision from another licensed professional. PE consultation is considered additional, expert consultation. Your direct supervisor must approve of your participation in the PE certification procedures prior to your enrollment and be willing to continue to provide direct supervision.
